FAQs
Seeking answers can feel both hopeful and overwhelming. Here are some of the most common questions families have about evaluations, fees, the process, and what to expect.
-
A neurodevelopmental evaluation helps build a clearer picture of how a child develops, learns, thinks, behaves, and functions in everyday life.
At Little Constellations, evaluations are individualized and may consider cognitive, developmental, academic, emotional, behavioral, and adaptive factors. The goal is to provide diagnostic clarification, a deeper understanding of the whole child, and practical recommendations for what comes next.
-
Families may seek an evaluation because a teacher, pediatrician, therapist, or other professional has raised a concern, or because they have noticed challenges with attention, learning, development, behavior, social communication, or social-emotional well-being themselves.
You do not need to know exactly what is going on before you reach out. A complimentary 15-minute consultation is a place to start.

Little Constellations evaluates concerns related to autism, ADHD and executive functioning, learning and academic differences, developmental delays, cognitive abilities, adaptive functioning, and social-emotional development. If your concerns do not fit neatly into one category, that is okay.

Many families arrive with a specific question, such as whether their child has autism or ADHD. Little Constellations does not use a one-size-fits-all testing approach. We build the evaluation around your child, your concerns, and the questions we are trying to answer, while looking beyond a single concern when the broader picture calls for it.
The goal is to provide a clear diagnosis when appropriate, a fuller understanding of the whole child, and practical recommendations for what comes next.
-
Because every evaluation is individualized, the cost depends on the questions being explored and the type and amount of testing needed. We will discuss the anticipated scope and fees during your consultation before the formal evaluation begins.
-
The process begins with a complimentary 15-minute consultation to make sure Little Constellations is a good fit for your family. If you move forward, the formal evaluation includes a detailed parent or caregiver interview, individualized testing, and, when helpful, questionnaires, records, and input from schools or healthcare providers. We then bring the information together in a written report and meet with you to explain the findings and recommendations.
Families also receive a complimentary three-month follow-up meeting to reconnect, review progress, and troubleshoot challenges in finding resources. See the full evaluation process →
-
Little Constellations is a private-pay practice. This allows each evaluation to be tailored around the child rather than the constraints of an insurance plan, giving us greater flexibility to provide a thorough, individualized assessment.
We can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement varies by insurance plan, so we encourage families to check directly with their provider. Flexible payment plans are also available; please ask us about available options.
-
The timing of each evaluation varies based on your child’s needs and the scope of testing. The parent or caregiver interview typically lasts 60–90 minutes, and your child’s testing may take place in one day or be spread across multiple appointments.
From the start of the evaluation process through feedback and the completed report, most evaluations take approximately 2–4 weeks. Timing can occasionally depend on how quickly we receive relevant records or information from schools, doctors, or other providers.
-
Some parts of the process can be completed online, including questionnaires through Little Constellations’ secure, HIPAA-compliant portal. Feedback sessions can also be completed virtually. Your child’s individualized testing is completed in the office.
-
No. Families can contact Little Constellations directly and do not need a referral or order from a physician, school, or other provider to begin the evaluation process. Request a consultation →

A comprehensive evaluation can help clarify a diagnosis, identify your child’s strengths and areas of need, and provide written recommendations that families can bring to a school team when discussing an IEP, 504 Plan, educational accommodations, or other supports. Eligibility and school-based services are determined by the school team, but a thorough evaluation can provide useful clinical documentation and context for those conversations.
